Biography
I just completed my master’s program in School Counseling at the University of Phoenix and am eager to get started with this exciting career. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2004. I started my college years at UNC in Greeley, CO; but realized after only a few years my desire to transfer back down to the springs to be closer to my loving family.
Personally, I come from a large, sincere family of 11 brothers and sisters. I am the youngest biological child of 5; and we adopted seven siblings to add to our affectionate and accepting family. My parents were foster parents for 35+ years; therefore, we have had the distinct pleasure of temporarily caring for and getting to know over 100 children that came through our home.
I really enjoy playing sports; softball and volleyball mostly. I played a year of college ball at UNC, but now play for various parks and recreational leagues. For the last year and a half, I have been affiliated and proudly coach Special Olympic sports for basketball, volleyball, and softball teams. I also enjoy spending a lot of my time with my family and friends; including birthday parties, BBQ’s, camping trips, a various other gatherings.
Professionally, I have had experience working with at-risk adolescents in a group home setting, working as a case manager on an inpatient mental health unit for adults, mentoring adults with developmental disabilities within our community, and teaching Pre-Kindergarten at a private school. I strive to bring my unique combination of personal and professional experience, and skill set to this position at PPP.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me, and again, I look forward to working with an exceptional team and group of students as well as parents involved. As with all others employed at PPP, the success, health and safety of each student is my number one priority. I am always here to act as an advocate for our student population as well as to help ensure their capability in achieving personal, social, academic, college and career education.
