BIOGRAPHY
Profesora Carlson recently relocated to Colorado in May of 2010. She is from Bourbonnais, Illinois. Profesora Carlson attended Illinois Wesleyan University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hispanic Studies.
While attending Illinois Wesleyan University, Profesora Carlson studied in Granada, Spain. Profesora Carlson was very involved with the swim team of Illinois Wesleyan University in all levels. She began her career with the team as a swimmer and eventually became the assistant coach. Coaching a college swim team offered Profesora Carlson insight into how to motivate, encourage, and unify a large group of people.
This is Profesora Carlson’s first year teaching at Pikes Peak Prep. Her past teaching experience includes working with children of special needs in nearly all grade levels. She was a teacher’s assistant for three years. She began her career in education at Kankakee High School in Kankakee, Illinois. Tri-Valley Elementary School in Downs, Illinois employed Profesora Carlson as a teacher’s assistant for one of the school’s kindergarten classes. Her final position as a teacher’s assistant was for the Normal School District in Normal, Illinois. As a teacher’s assistant, Profesora Carlson was able to witness excellent classroom management and strategies, which she includes in her own classroom today.
Profesora Carlson is very pleased with her moved to Colorado Springs and is even happier to be a teacher a Pikes Peak Prep.
